I have two children in the program. Can I just fill out one form for both?
No, State licensing requirements dictate that every child in the program must have a completed registration form.

My child's physical is not scheduled until after March. Will my registration be returned?
If your child's physical exam is scheduled after March, please indicate date of exam on the registration form. Do not delay returning the rest of the registration forms back to TLC. School policy dictates that every child must have had the approved immunizations prior to the start of school, and TLC adheres to the same policy. Medical exam forms may be obtained from the school nurse, TLC office, or the TLC Forms Page.

When will I owe my first payment?
50% of your September program fee is due to TLC by July 18, 2008. The remaining 50% must be paid by the first day of school. Failure to make scheduled payments could result in TLC giving your child's spot to another child.

For TLC Pre-School 2009-2010 50% of your September program fee is due to TLC by May 1, 2009. The remaining 50% of the September program fee must be paid by the first day of pre-school; scheduled for Monday, Aug 24, 2009.

Can I pay by credit or debit card?
Yes. TLC accepts MasterCard, Visa, or Discover credit card. Sorry, but TLC does not accept Amex. Debit cards with the Visa or MasterCard logo on the card can also be accepted. Either stop into the main office or call TLC to make a payment. TLC's main office is located at 2 Corporate Drive, Suite 207 in Trumbull. The main office phone number is 203-452-9626. Please note that payments can not be accepted at your child's center.

What do I do if my child is not accepted?
You will have the option of being placed on the TLC waiting list or receiving your registration fee back and finding alternate care. If you are placed on a waiting list, you will be informed of an opening when and if one becomes available. Info-Line, (800) 505-1000, can also assist you in locating alternative licensed family daycare facilities.

What is the Fun Zone Center?
The Fun Zone is TLC-owned space which enables TLC to provide more appropriate after-school programming for 4th and 5th graders. The Fun Zone Center is located directly behind Daniels Farm School. Only 4th and 5th grade students from participating schools are bused to the Fun Zone Center. Students from non-participating schools may attend a TLC Program located at their school. Please note that placement into the Fun Zone is determined after enrollment numbers have been finalized.

My child has allergies/asthma. Can TLC handle this?
State Licensing requires TLC staff to be trained to administer Epi-pens, Inhalers & Benadryl. TLC Medical Authorization forms must be completed for each type of medicine that might need to be kept at TLC. The TLC office and center staffs will do their best to make you comfortable and confident that your child is well cared for.

Does TLC offer financial assistance?
Yes. TLC can offer limited assistance to families through the TLC Scholarship for families that demonstrate financial need. For additional information please speak to our Executive Director, Ken McCabe, at (203) 452-9626. Your inquiry and information with be treated in confidence.

There is also some assistance available through the State of Connecticut Care 4 Kids.

Is the TLC or ASP program open during school holidays?
TLC follows the school calendar with a few exceptions. We are open on the single school holidays during which the children have no school but most parents work. If you want your child to spend the day at TLC on a school holiday or during the Holiday Recess weeks, you must register your child. There is an extra charge for each single day holiday and recess week that your child attends.

ASP programs will not be open on holidays or during the recess week, but students may attend another TLC center on these days for an additional charge. Please speak with the Site Director at your child's center or refer to your Parent's Handbook for more information.

How can I get copies of my monthly/yearly statements for tax purposes?

Please email your request for monthly/yearly statements to info@tlctrumbull.com.

Where is TLC Kindergarten located?
There are 6 TLC Kindergarten locations: TLC Booth Hill, TLC Daniels Farm, TLC Frenchtown, TLC Jane Ryan, TLC Middlebrook, and TLC Tashua.

What if I don't know if my child is in AM/PM kindergarten?
In the Kindergarten Care section, simply check off which days you would like your child enrolled. TLC will be notified of the kindergarten AM/PM designations from the Board of Education Transportation Department. TLC will then assign your child to the appropriate TLC session. Until the AM/PM kindergarten sessions are designated, Kindergartners are only conditionally accepted into the TLC program.Top of Page

Can my kindergartner take the bus to TLC?
TLC has the following arrangement with the Board of Education's Transportation Dept:

  • Full-time (5 days/week) in TLC -Full-time TLC children who attend the morning TLC kindergarten session, and go to school in the afternoon, may arrive at TLC on the 8:35 AM regular school bus, if there is space. Likewise, children who go to school in the morning, and attend the afternoon kindergarten session at TLC, may ride home on the 3:20 PM school bus, again if there is space. If TLC students cause the bus to be over capacity, you will be notified. Remember the 8:35 and 3:20 buses have designated stops on the routes, and additional stops will not be made to accommodate students who are returning home from TLC in the afternoon or students who are riding from home to TLC in the morning.

  • Part-time (2-3/days) in TLC -Part-time TLC kindergarten students may ride the 8:35 AM and 3:20 PM buses on TLC days, again if there is space, BUT the Transportation Department will not provide a "middle-of-the day" Kindergarten bus to your home from school or from your home to school on the days your child does not attend TLC. TLC works very closely with the BOE's Transportation Dept. to provide the safest transportation for our students. If you have any questions, please contact the TLC office at (203) 452-9626.

How does my child get to TLC Kindergarten if they are in morning kindergarten at school?
The TLC staff will accompany all kindergarten children to and from their classroom to TLC Kindergarten. Children will be met by TLC staff at their classrooms after school is finished. Depending on the procedures at your child's center, kindergarten children arriving by school bus and going to TLC Kindergarten for the morning are collected from the school bus and taken directly to the TLC center. Please talk to the Site Director to determine the procedure at your child's center.

If there is an activity at the school during the morning, will my child be able to attend?
TLC children may be invited by the school to attend special activities or functions during the morning or afternoon. For example, a child attending PM kindergarten, who is at TLC during the morning may be able to attend these special activities during the morning. Please speak with the Site Director to see what happens at your center.

What does my child need to bring to TLC Kindergarten everyday?

Lunch. Both AM and PM Kindergartners will need to bring a lunch (and cold pack when needed) to TLC Kindergarten. Microwaves are available for heating your child's lunch if necessary. Snacks and drinks are provided by TLC. Please notify TLC staff if your child has food allergies.

Please be sure that your child is appropriately dressed for outdoor play and for the current weather conditions (snow boots in the winter and sneakers for other seasons work best).Top of Page

Does my child need a change of clothing for TLC Kindergarten?
Yes. Please keep a change of clothes in your child's backpack for the days that she will be at TLC Kindergarten. Sometimes "accidents" happen and a change of clothes may be necessary. Making snowmen, playing in the snow, and playing water games are just some of the outdoor activities your child participates in that may require a change of clothing.

If my child is sick at school, can he still go to TLC Kindergarten?
No. TLC cannot keep a child that has been "sent home" by the school nurse. TLC must follow the State of Connecticut guidelines for sick childcare. If a child becomes ill at any TLC program, we will contact the parent and request that the child be picked-up immediately.

Will there be a nap time at TLC Kindergarten?

There are no scheduled field trips during the regular school day. Some field trips may be planned on special holidays when your child is at TLC for an entire day (see Sign-Up Days in your Parent Handbook).
